Generation change in the area of accreditation
Thanks to Eugen Sander, the expansion of the laboratories has been driven forward for over 20 years. Christian Sander took over his father's work punctually at the beginning of 2020. As Head of Metrology, he will continue to develop accreditations with us.
Great words are followed by deeds
In 1999, Eugen Sander joined Testo CAL, now Testo Industrial Services. He convinced with a confident claim "I can get accreditation for anything." Immediately thereafter, he began his mission and achieved accreditation for the measurand pressure in his first year. To this day, the former statement is confirmed: thanks to Eugen Sander and his team, Testo Industrial Services is accredited for a great many calibration procedures 20 years later. The current accreditation certificate can be found here.
Happiness through metrology
As a measurement engineer through and through, Eugen Sander has expanded the service portfolio over the years. "I always had the feeling that I could make a difference here. We were always one step ahead and thus at the cutting edge. The advances in measurement technology have triggered very unique feelings of happiness in me," Eugen Sander enthuses. It was not only the customers' needs that could be satisfied. In 2012, we wanted to be among the Rolls Royce of calibration service providers and thus also calibrate the high-quality reference standards of our competitors. With Eugen Sander's intention, the primary laboratory was built up to the highest metrological level, so that the measurement uncertainties in the electrical and thermodynamic areas are among the smallest of all DAkkS accredited laboratories to this day.
Generation change at the Sanders
Eugen Sander has not only anchored his knowledge at Testo Industrial Services. He has probably also passed on his passion for measurement technology to his son Christian Sander. Junior Sander first worked at Testo CAL 18 years ago, helping to introduce the new LIMS system - the leading system for calibration in our laboratories. "Back then, I was poring over Testo catalogs and entering instrument tolerances into LIMS. Those were the first basic building blocks for today's conformity assessment. That is, in deciding whether a measuring device is within or outside the tolerance," Christian Sander recounts in the presence of his father.
When Testo CAL moved from Lenzkirch to Kirchzarten in 2006, he spontaneously stepped in to help with the move.
But Dr. Christian Sander did not follow in his father's footsteps until 13 years later. As Head of Metrology, he will drive accreditations at Testo Industrial Services and deepen his know-how in knowledge transfer with metrological institutes and scientific bodies.
Christian Sander still remembers the company excursions. Back then, as a young boy, he was allowed to take part in exciting activities such as canoe trips. His father entertained the staff with his accordion.
With one eye smiling and one eye crying
Influenced by the change of generations, our long-time expert Eugen Sander states: "I have one laughing eye and one crying eye. I will miss working with measurement technology enormously. However, I look back very fondly on all the successes at Testo Industrial Services. I am all the more pleased that Christian will continue my work in his own way." Son Christian notes that he has been able to get to know his father in a whole new way through working together. "I was never aware of the professional world my dad is in. The cordiality towards other laboratory managers and among colleagues at Testo made a deep impression on me," says Christian Sander. Today, Christian Sander is happy that his father is retiring professionally and thus has all the more time for his grandchildren.
