Laboratory accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025

In order to ensure a high level of customer confidence at an international level, it is necessary for testing and calibration laboratories to act in accordance with international standards such as ISO/IEC 17025.

The international standard ISO/IEC 17025 defines the general requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of testing and calibration laboratories. By complying with the standard, laboratories can demonstrate their ability to produce valid results. This is an essential prerequisite for ensuring trust at national and international level.

We support you in obtaining accreditation for your laboratory and assist you in carrying out a GAP analysis and preparing for accreditation.

Our consulting services in detail

GAP analysis

  • Recording the current situation: Together, we look at the conformity of your documents with the quality management system and the supplementary laboratory processes at your site. If you already have a certified quality management system in accordance with ISO 9001:2015, elements of this can be incorporated into the accreditation process.

  • Review of the quality management system: In cooperation with you, we look at the key points of your quality management system. Key points here are the documentation of the management system, the control of documents and records and the planning of your internal audits.

  • Process analysis: Our experts work with you to analyze the planned scope of accreditation, the obligations of impartiality and the handling of measuring and testing equipment. This is supplemented by an examination of the templates and templates currently in use.

  • Deriving a project plan: The results of the analyses are summarized in a report for you. Based on this report, the next steps for the accreditation preparation are derived, the project schedule is created, the effort is estimated and the resulting findings are presented.

Accreditation preparation

  • Creation of a quality management manual: Your existing processes are integrated into the quality management system and the scope of accreditation (laboratory area) is defined. As part of this, the impartiality obligation of your laboratory management is developed and the risks to confidentiality and impartiality are identified.

  • Development of specific processes: In accordance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, our experts design your processes so that they comply with the regulations and are tailored to the specific needs of your laboratories.

  • Development of calibration instructions: Together we develop the calibration instructions in accordance with the standard. This includes the description of the calibration procedure, the handling of the test equipment, the specification of the measurement uncertainty and the validation with other laboratories.

  • Estimation of the measurement uncertainty: We help you with the estimation of the measurement uncertainty according to the guidelines of EA-4/02 (Evaluation of the Uncertainty of Measurement in Calibration), which are based on the GUM (Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement).

  • Implementation of internal audits: We carry out internal audits in cooperation with you. We implement the resulting measures together with you so that your management system meets the requirements of the standard.

  • Submitting the accreditation application: Our experts compile all the necessary documents for the accreditation application and complete them with the relevant information. We maintain regular contact with the German accreditation body (DAkkS) to ensure that the necessary information and documents are submitted on time.

  • Project management: During the accreditation preparation, we prepare and follow up the project meetings, maintain the task list and try to adhere to the project schedule through targeted action
